Turkish Cypriot Women's Project
Turkish Cypriot Women’s Project believes in developing and providing services that are essential for women and their families.
One of the fundamental principles of the project is to empower and enhance women; the charity provide a number of activities to further develop skills and knowledge of their service users.
Each Friday the project runs a luncheon Club for men and women over the age of 50+. Help is needed to run this weekly event and main duties will include:
- Preparation of vegetables, fruit, etc.
- Assist in serving of food, under the direction of the Cook
- Washing up and clean kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and cutlery.
Kayla recently spent a day volunteering with the charity:
“The Turkish Cypriot Women’s group gives Turkish families, mainly elderly, the chance to meet individuals as well as make them feel included and supported in their environment. I helped in the kitchen, to prepare food for members. The women in charge of the organisation gave me tons of Turkish treats to try such which was really cool to get a taste of another culture. The members there were all very friendly. I got to meet an 85-year-old woman who talked about her 55 years in England.”
Tube: Turnpike Lane (Piccadilly line)
Buses: 29, 41, 141 & W4
