Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
In Westminster, an increasing number of people have difficulties in paying for their basic needs. Other needs may take up all finances, leaving nothing for food. This is a dire situation, especially if one is supporting a family.
The North Paddington Food Bank is there to help. With cash and food donations from local businesses and the general public, the food bank provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing a crisis in North Paddington.
Volunteers are needed who can come along on a Friday afternoon between 2.30pm and 5 pm to help us with sorting out food donations. Ideally, we would like someone who is flexible, physically fit and is able to move crates from one area to another and unloading food deliveries. Someone who is happy to work alone or with a few others.
Also, someone who has a car and a driver’s license will be useful as we sometimes need to collect donations locally.
Tube: Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo line) or Royal Oak or Westbourne Park (Hammersmith and City line)
Buses: 31, 36 & 328
Note: Please do not attend any volunteering opportunity listed on this website until you have taken steps to meet with us and become registered with Hands On London. Charities and community groups featured on our events calendar need to know that volunteers are registered and that their identity has been independently verified – they have requested confirmation of this via Hands On London. If you attend without being registered or approved, it is likely you will be turned away and have a wasted journey.
