St John’s Wood Church Ground Gardens
Volunteers are needed to help with the redevelopment of the St John’s Wood Church Ground Gardens, Local Nature Reserve. (LNR)
Designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 1997, St. John’s Wood Church Ground is a small open space that has been designated of Grade 1 Borough Importance for Nature Conservation and successfully managed for both people and wildlife. It allows visitors to experience wildlife by taking a nature trail through the reserve or by stopping for lunch in the picnic area adjacent to the reserve. Visitors can collect an information leaflet on their way into the reserve.
We plan on clearing out the old undergrowth, removing unwanted plant species, making a new pathway, installing an outdoor classroom and increasing the variety of plant species.
To do this, we need your help. Volunteer sessions will be held every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:00 until 14:00 hrs.
- Meet at the Local Nature Reserve.
- You will need to wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.
- All tools and gloves will be provided.
- Tea & Coffee available, please bring your own lunch.
This is your chance to make a contribution to the local community by improving the local habitat for wildlife.
No experience or skills needed as training and guidance will be given, just bring enthusiasm!
Note: Please do not attend any volunteering opportunity listed on this website until you have taken steps to meet with us and become registered with Hands On London. Charities and community groups featured on our events calendar need to know that volunteers are registered and that their identity has been independently verified – they have requested confirmation of this via Hands On London. If you attend without being registered or approved, it is likely you will be turned away and have a wasted journey.
