Sutton Community Farm
Keeping a community farm running involves a wide variety of work
Volunteers go to Sutton Community Farm to learn new skills, share knowledge, meet people and be inspired. We have had more than 1,500 volunteers join us over the last 4 years and new people are always welcome. Most volunteers help out with practical activities such as:
Growing and plant maintenance: working with the growing team on the fields (outdoor activity)
Site maintenance and biodiversity: assisting with DIY tasks, infrastructure, maintaining habitats (outdoor activity)
Events: particularly during the summer, we go to fairs to tell the local community about the farm and encourage people to support us by buying a VegBox.
Bus routes: 127
Trains: The nearest train station is Wallington. There are regular trains from Victoria, Clapham Junction, Balham, Streatham and Norwood Junction and Crystal Palace and you can also travel from London Bridge, changing at Norwood Junction.
NB: Trains to Carshalton are much faster than trains to Wallington – however Carshalton is slightly longer walk/cycle.
From Wallington station to the Farm: You can cycle or walk to the farm, or take the 127 bus, getting off at Woodcote Green, opposite Wallington High School.
By car: Please park on Woodmansterne Lane or Flitton’s Nursery and enter through our gate (opposite Flitton’s Nursery). Postcode for your SatNav – SM6 0SW.
Entry to the farm is on Woodmansterne Lane across from Flittons Nursery.
Note: Please do not attend any volunteering opportunity listed on this website until you have taken steps to meet with us and become registered with Hands On London. Charities and community groups featured on our events calendar need to know that volunteers are registered and that their identity has been independently verified – they have requested confirmation of this via Hands On London. If you attend without being registered or approved, it is likely you will be turned away and have a wasted journey.
