Work and Play Scrap Store
Work and Play Scrapstore in Tooting is an aladdin’s cave of materials including paper, fabric, buttons, trimmings, paint and sequins.
All the materials are used by members of the charity (schools, nurseries, theatre, therapeutic and community groups) rather than the materials ending up being thrown away.
Volunteers are needed who are enthusiastic about re-use, craft and making things, as well as education and organising. The role involves spending time processing stock and working with members coming to collect items for reuse.
This is a good opportunity to use your talents if you have craft/art skills, and good ideas of how to make things using different scrap materials (e.g sculpture, sewing, weaving and collage).
You can go along just for a few hours or volunteers all day from 10 am to 5 pm.
Underground: Tooting Broadway (Northern line)
Overground: Tooting or Haydons Road
Bus: 57, 131 and 219
Families are welcome to volunteer together providing parents supervise their own children but the opportunity is not suitable for those under 16. If the family group is older than this, then we would host them with pleasure.
Note: Please do not attend any volunteering opportunity listed on this website until you have taken steps to meet with us and become registered with Hands On London. Charities and community groups featured on our events calendar need to know that volunteers are registered and that their identity has been independently verified – they have requested confirmation of this via Hands On London. If you attend without being registered or approved, it is likely you will be turned away and have a wasted journey.
Bookings are closed for this event.
